filipiniana

It's linggo ng wika (week of Philippine language) at my daughters' school today. this event is celebrated to rekindle our national spirits by doing traditional activities in school like wearing filipiniana- our native costume, do a stage play, or sing a tagalog song. i would love nothing but see my girls sing again, but in tagalog? i'm not sure. saskia only learned to speak fluent tagalog last year because we always spoke to her in english.

this year is the first linggo ng wika i was excited to attend. why? because i bought the very first filipiniana costume ever for my daughter. with the two older sisters i would normally just borrow from relatives to save money because i don't want to spend for something they would only wear once. they grow up so fast and these costumes are expensive for a one day affair. last night though, as i walk around the costume racks, i stood there for two hours deciding whether i should get one for both naomi and saskia. i remembered alyssa has this maria clara outfit so that was a relief. i dont need to get one for naomi. and then i decided to get one for saskia. i picked a larger size so she could use it again next year and for the coming years until it doesn't fit anymore.so here it is,

saskia francesca wearing a baro't saya with agatha
and guess what, she was nominated for best costume!
naomi wearing a very simple maria clara outfit

here's how it really looks like.
though i'm a little creeped out by showing you
these black and white pictures i got from google images.
i hope i don't get haunted!

was really into the whole celebration
so i took pictures of random students
and just when i was enjoying the whole picture taking,
the camera died. shoot..

i had fun anyway... and looking forward to next year's linggo ng wika.

waiting for forever

Dear Emma,
Those two words “Dear Emma” take me away to another time when we used to write to each other after Mom and Dad died. I used to tell you about my new friends and my new life. And you used to tell me about the grand time my mom and dad were having in heaven.Truth is nothing. What you believe to be true is everything. And the main thing that I used to believe was that I would be with you forever. Forever. The reason it has taken me so long to write to you is that I see that I have been a fool. I’ve spent my life fooling myself.Every letter I’ve ever written to you has been a love letter. How could they have been anything else? I can see now that all of them except this one were bad love letters. Bad love letters beg for love back. Good love letters ask for nothing. This, I’m pleased to announce is my first good love letter to you because there is nothing more for you to do. You’ve already done everything. I have enough of you in my head to last forever. So please don’t ever worry about me. I’m peachy. I really am. I have everything. If I had one wish it would be that your life brings you a taste of the happiness you have brought to me. That you can feel what it’s like to love.
Your friend forever,
Will

running

ok i need to remind myself that i should still be in the diet phase.
the past few days i'm eating like i don't get filled up again.
i eat whatever i see in the fridge, whatever comes to mind,
and craving like a pregnant woman- only am not, i swear.
by this time i should be able to control myself and
having all these birthdays are not helping me focus!

maybe now is the best time to start a running habit.
just thinking about it makes me lazy.

a little inspiration surely helps.

dress form trend

there is a current  trend by
interior designers and stylish individuals
to use mannequin form as a home decor.

it's a nice piece to add in the bedroom, don't you think?

move out

i haven't been sleeping well at all at nights for a long time now, i'm beginning to consider taking sleeping pills just to get some really good sleep. free of worry, total and complete brain rest. i've been worrying a lot and i think the stress is already showing.

i want to do so many things. i want to clean our room and throw out all the clothes and shoes that should never be worn again. i want to pack and organize everything, buy new stuff and make our small room look really neat and nice. we have a very small room and our things are just impossible to fit in. i need more space. i need closets and dressers. i need a new room.

we've been living like this for a long time and it's about time to move out.

it's going to be a very busy week ahead because it's exam week!
my two young teens have been studying really hard. alyssa for her upcat test and naomi for the quarterly exams. saskia is, well, we goof around most of the time while reviewing. she's a smart kid. so she always manage get high grades.

i'm showing this picture of saskia annoyed at me for trying to steal a nice shot of her while checking some art and crafts book at national bookstore. she's been avoiding the camera ever since she saw her picture on my blog.

 first attempt

cheska: mommy! i don't like!
you're just going to show it on your blog!
mommy: just one shot baby.
cheska: nooo! (annoyed)

second attempt
cheska: i knew it! mommy!
mommy: fine, ok no more, promise.
